The sandals of the young pharaoh
In Tutankhamun’s tomb was found a large collection of shoes and sandals made of different materials (gold, vegetable fiber, birch bark, glass and majolica, leather, precious stones).
According to the royal tradition, images of the king’s enemies were painted on the soles of the sandals: in this way the king trampled them symbolically at every step.
