In this tour, we’ll step into the private world of Alexander III and Maria Feodorovna and discover how their children actually lived behind the palace walls. We’ll talk about their home education, schoolrooms, demanding lesson schedules, tutors, languages, physical training and even the textbooks used by the young heir to the throne. We’ll also look beyond lessons to games, family traditions, walks and everyday life with Nicholas’s siblings, including George, Xenia, Michael and Olga. Far from the glittering image of the Romanov court, Gatchina reveals Nicholas II as a boy growing up in a close-knit, disciplined and surprisingly private imperial family.
