Tour Description

St Stephen’s Green Park is located close to the centre of Dublin City and is in the middle of Dublin’s oldest Georgian Square it dates back to 1663. Stephen’s Green Park was one of the locations of the 1916 Easter Rising a Six day war against the British who occupied Ireland at that time, we will discuss the war and the role that one of Ireland’s greatest patriots played in the war her name was Countess Markievicz (Contance Gore-Booth) she was second in command here and a member of the Irish Citizens Army. The Park has a series of busts and Statues of well known Irish characters including James Joyce, Robert Emmet, Lord Ardilaun (Arthur Guinness) and more, there is also a famine Memorial that we will visit too. There is much to see and discuss in this park considered to be one of the world’s most beautiful city parks.
