Herculaneum, like Pompeii, was buried by Vesuvius in 79 CE but was preserved even more exceptionally under volcanic mud. Its lavish villas, carbonized wooden structures, and papyrus scrolls offer a rare glimpse into the wealthier side of Roman life. After looking at Pompeii, we shall now explore the riches of Herculaneum. What happened to this city? And how was it different from Pompeii?
