Course Description
This course provides a structured exploration of the Olympian gods, focusing on their roles, relationships, and distinctions across two generations. Through four lessons, participants will examine the key deities of Greek mythology, their functions within the pantheon, and their influence on ancient Greek religion and society.
Lesson 1 - The Olympian Men
November 4th, 2024
In the first lesson we will look at the Olympian Gods. Who were they? And what did they do? And how do we distinguish two generations of Olympian gods? After an introduction, we will then focus on the three male gods for the first generation: Zeus, Poseidon and Hades.
Lesson 2 - The Olympian Women
November 11th, 2024
In this lesson we will look at the Olympian Women. Who were they? And what did they do? After the introduction, we will focus on the four female gods of the first generation: Aphrodite, Hera, Demeter and Hestia.
Lesson 3 - The Olympian Children Part 1
November 18th, 2024
The third lesson shifts to the second generation of Olympian Gods (children to the first generation). Who were they? And what did they do? After the introduction, we will focus on the first four gods and goddesses of this second generation: Ares, Athena, Hermes and Hephaestus.
Lesson 4 - The Olympian Children Part 2
November 25th, 2024
The final lesson concludes the examination of the second generation of Olympian Gods (children to the first generation). Who were they? And what did they do? After the introduction, we will focus on the last three gods and goddesses of this second generation: Artemis, Apollo, and Dionysus.
