Description
Egyptian spiritual beliefs tend to be discussed in terms of mythology – of the stories of the gods and how the world came to be. This is important, but it’s only part of the complexity of ancient Egyptian religion. This tour will take you through an overview of the complex world of Egyptian religion, including its underlying philosophy, the gods and goddesses that were worshipped, and how it changed over time and between social classes. We will look at not only death and the afterlife but also life and how the Egyptians saw them as interconnected. Hopefully, you will come away with an appreciation for the depths and complexities of a belief system that often goes underappreciated.
We believe knowledge must be FREE, available to everyone. Just get your Free pass and ENJOY!

I am a Ph.D. student at the University of Pennsylvania, studying ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. I have worked on many topics, including frog-shaped stone vessels from the earliest periods of Egypt, the tombs of the Theban Necropolis, and Assyrian royal propaganda. I have also excavated in Egypt at the ancient town of Wah-Sut, a settlement for the workers of the temple of pharaoh Senwosret III.
