Description
In this tour of Teotihuacán we will focus on the political and ritual heart of one of the most significant archaeological sites in the Americas. We will have the opportunity to explore the southern grand complexes of the City of the Gods. You’ll witness the grandeur of The Citadel (La Ciudadela), a massive sunken plaza that served as the administrative and religious epicenter of the city. The tour will feature a detailed historical explanation of this monumental space, designed to hold thousands of people for sacred ceremonies and political assemblies. One of the main highlights of this tour will be the Temple of Quetzalcóatl (Feathered Serpent Pyramid). We will explore the cultural and religious importance of this breathtaking monument, adorned with intricate carvings of the feathered serpent and the rain deity. You will discover its unique architectural evolution, including the fascinating “Templos Encimados” (Overlapped Temples), where you can see how newer structures were built directly over older ones, preserving history beneath layers of stone. We’ll also walk along the southern section of the Avenue of the Dead, the majestic ceremonial road, to understand how this mysterious civilization organized its urban landscape and projected social and commercial power. This is an opportunity to experience the sacred core of Teotihuacán as it is today.
