Ason Bazaar is one of the oldest and busiest market centers in Kathmandu, located at a junction where six narrow streets meet. The square is surrounded by traditional Newar buildings with carved wooden windows and old brick walls. From early morning, the area is packed with locals selling fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, grains, and spices laid out directly on the stone-paved ground. The air smells of incense and street food, and sounds of temple bells, bicycles, and vendors fill the space. Hidden shrines, small temples, and water spouts are scattered throughout the area, blending religion into daily life. Even in the evening, the bazaar stays lively with people shopping, lights glowing from shops and shrines, and the constant flow of movement through the narrow alleyways.
