Let’s discover the Faberge Museum collection of Saint Petersburg. We are to see the world’s largest collection of Carl Fabergé masterpieces under one roof. A true highlight of the collection are the Imperial Easter eggs created by the House of Carl Faberge for the last two Russian Tsars. The masterpieces were accumulated with 100+ other jewelry works by Malcolm Forbes throughout his life (1919-1990) and then sold by his family to Russia. You’ll learn how Faberge managed to become the official supplier of jewelry to the Russian court and why the aristocracy loved him. By looking at the eggs, we’ll trace back Russian history and get to know some details of the Russian Imperial Romanov family’s private life. I’ll tell you what happened with the Faberge empire and its heritage after the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. You’ll get to know about the turmoils the jewels had to survive so that we could see them again.
