About Professional Tour Guide
I'm Lillian Cespedes Gonzalez, I've got a PhD in history from the University of Winchester (UK) and have been tour guiding since 2010. I decided to combine my 2 passions and make a change for the history and heritage industry by providing accessible, affordable tours while also helping the industry be a more sustainable sphere. Due to my PhD and my love for the subject, the middle ages are my top expertise subject, particularly the Early Middle Ages. But I am also passionate and well versed in art history, culture, identity and gender studies. I love telling stories and bringing things and people often forgotten to the forefront so I invite you in this journey of historical marvel!

Dr Lilians passion for history is both knowledgeable and Engaging
Last year, I enrolled in Dr. Lilian’s Viking course, and I was immediately captivated by her passion for the subject. It’s not just the information she imparts; it’s how she delves into the material, providing in-depth explanations. Since then, I’ve continued to enjoy Dr. Lilian’s courses. Currently, I’m participating in her “England through the Ages” course. Although this isn’t her favorite historical topic, she has meticulously researched and crafted an outstanding course. Dr. Lilian’s dedication shines through, making the learning experience both enjoyable and informative.

The complicated history of the heirs & family of Charlemagne…..
Dr. LILLIAN is one of my favorite tour guides and historians in the group of very professional and knowledgeable guides for World Vitual Tours. She is incredibly engaging and it is so apparent how much she loves the history and is so knowledgeable regarding her sphere of history, which is expansive. I love her tours and love how she tries to make her knowledge appealing to those of us who are following her every word. Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge and love for the historical periods you teach.
April 27, 2024. Tour of Salisbury, UK. Absolutely wonderful tour, especially Salisbury Cathedral!
Dr. Lillian did a tremendous job of walking us through the city of Salisbury, showing the various types of architecture, a lot of history about the town, and the stunning Salisbury Cathedral. So much so I’m going to have to go back and re-study English history!!!
A fascinating, informative and exciting talk
The use of the name ‘Black Death’ in reference to a 14th-century pandemic is probably familiar to most people, at least in the UK. But the details of it are less familiar and some of what is generally accepted by many people as fact is not actually completely true.
Lilly’s outstanding talk explains the origins of the Black Death – the poor black rats have been given far too much of the blame! – and the fascinating species imbalance which altered the behaviour of one animal, and how the clothing choices of the time made humans more vulnerable to the disease.
The talk contains a certain amount of medical detail which some might find distressing, but Lilly gives a warning in advance of anything potentially disturbing and while everyone will need to make their own judgement based on their individual triggers, Lilly provided the facts clearly and honestly and gave no more description than was necessary. I am very interested in medicine and its history so this part of the talk was particularly fascinating.
Lilly also examined the impact of the plague on many aspects of life, including the economy and also on art and literature of the time. Although we undoubtedly live in a very different world now in terms of technology and also in medical knowledge, it is intriguing to note the similarities between the reactions to the plague and to our recent pandemic.
This review only mentions a tiny amount of what is included in the talk, but Lilly has done an incredible job in putting this together. It is easy to understand and genuinely exciting to be part of it.
