Course Description
In this course we look into the ancient history of Mesopotamia. We shall look at how and when the first cities developed in Mesopotamia from about 5000 BC. Hereby, we will look at houses, cities, and palaces. We will also see how the first empires developed: the kingdoms of Sumeria, Babylonia and Assyria. And finally, we shall look into their writing system: cuneiform.

In this lesson we shall look at the Sumerian civilisation: the first major civilisation that developed in the Near East. How did the civilisation develop? And what major finds are known from the Sumerian period?
