In this second part of the live walking tour of Teotihuacán we will explore the most famous monuments and elite quarters of the City of the Gods. As we walk along the central corridor of the Avenue of the Dead, you will experience the visual impact of ancient urban planning on a cosmic scale. We will marvel at the Pyramid of the Sun, one of the largest structures in the ancient Western Hemisphere, and explore its astronomical alignment and ritual significance. Continuing north, we will reach the Pyramid of the Moon and its vast ceremonial plaza, designed for public gatherings and sacred rituals framed by surrounding mountains. We will also visit the Palace of Quetzalpapálotl (Palace of the Feathered Butterfly), renowned for its beautifully carved pillars and stone reliefs. Right beside it, we will uncover hidden treasures: the Palace of the Feathered Shells (Palacio de los Caracoles Emplumados) with its underground priest quarters, the Jaguar Courtyard (Patio de los Jaguares), and the vivid Jaguar Mural (Mural del Jaguar), showcasing original pigments that have survived for over a millennium. You will gain a deep understanding of artistic symbolism, royal rituals, and high-status life in Mesoamerica’s greatest metropolis.
