You are invited to Old Jaffa, the old town of Tel Aviv, Israel. It is so old that it’s mentioned in Jewish Bible and boasts having archeological finds dating back to around five thousand years ago. With that being said, one can imagine how many peoples have been on this land and how much heritage they have left for us. With the centuries under Ottoman rule, dozens of years of the British Mandate and for the last seventy-four years as the gem of the State of Israel, Old Jaffa is by right called the melting pot of the Middle East. Needless to say, it is a big tourist attraction for visitors from all over the world.
Let’s walk along the illuminated streets of Old Jaffa, enjoy the big Christmas tree, beautiful decorations and lights as well mind-sweeping views of the city overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Let’s learn why and how this high Christian holiday is celebrated in the most Arab part of this big Jewish city. History will provide us with all the answers.
