Description

On this tour, we will focus on significant works by Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Paul Cézanne, whose contributions were pivotal to the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist movements. Pissarro’s tranquil depictions of rural and urban scenes reflect his interest in light, atmosphere, and the everyday lives of people, showcasing a unique blend of detail and broad, expressive brushstrokes. Renoir’s vibrant and expressive works bring to life scenes of leisure, social gatherings, and portraits, emphasizing the warmth and richness of color that defined much of Impressionism. Cézanne’s paintings, with their distinctive approach to composition and use of color, highlight his role in the transition from Impressionism to modern art. His still lifes and landscapes reveal a focus on form and structure, exploring new ways of representing space and perspective. Together, the works of Pissarro, Renoir, and Cézanne illustrate the diversity of styles and themes that shaped European art during this dynamic period.

The General Staff Building of the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg serves as a stunning extension of the museum, showcasing a world-renowned collection of 19th- and 20th-century European art. Designed by Carlo Rossi in the early 19th century, the building originally functioned as the military headquarters of the Russian Empire. Its neoclassical architecture, featuring a grand façade and triumphal arch, stands as a powerful symbol of imperial Russia, complementing the historic Winter Palace across Palace Square. Today, the building houses an extraordinary array of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces, including works by iconic artists such as Renoir, Monet, Degas, Van Gogh, and Picasso, offering a deep dive into the art movements that shaped modern European art.

Professional Tour Guide

Anna L.
Anna L.

Hi, my name is Anna. I used to be a licensed tour guide to Saint Petersburg, Russia. Due to Russian-Ukrainian war and my zero tolerance of my county’s government, I had to leave my beloved city and job. I’m currently living in Israel. There is no such thing as an ex-guide, so I’m not wasting my time and studying to become a licensed tour guide to the Holy Land. Join me in my exploration of Israel. Let’s discover this country together. History is never boring, it’s all how you talk about it. I do all kinds of virtual tours, from big touristy spots, to the nooks off the beaten path.
