Description
A manic, violent mind who CHANGED THE LIFE OF PAINTING FOREVER. His incredible works caused a revolution in Rome at the end of the 16th century, dramatically ushering in the age of the Baroque.
On our immersive online itinerary, you’ll encounter saints with dirty feet being led to martyrdom and sensual virgins, voluptuous angels and provocative nudes, cardsharps, fortune-tellers and more!
We will retrace his footprint through noble-palaces and churches, taverns and brothels to understand how is troubled life has influenced his artworks: from his early days in the capital, through the pinnacle of Fame to his fall from grace including murder and his tragic ending on Tuscan beach.
We will admire his early paintings in the Borghese Gallery, his extraordinarily dramatic religious canvases in Santa Maria del Popolo and San Luigi dei Francesi made when he reached new heights of fame, and we will return to Borghese collection to discover one of Caravaggio’s last works: David with the head of Goliath Some claim that the giant’s head is a self-portrait of the artist. Let’s find out together why!
