Description

Today we will be at home to present a live webinar that I have designed to retrace a major exhibition that you may not have had the chance to see in Paris. Through this exhibition, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs pays tribute to 100 years of Art Deco. A century ago, from 28 April to 30 November 1925, the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts took place between the Esplanade des Invalides, the adjacent quays and the Grand Palais. With 21 countries invited and some 50 pavilions built for the occasion, this ambitious event attracted more than 16 million visitors and established the global success of the architectural style to which it would give its name: Art Deco. Developed in reality as early as 1910, in opposition to the vegetal profusion of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, which aimed to be refined, efficient and streamlined in the tradition of Cubism, reached its peak during the 1920s and 1930s, driven by great names such as Auguste Perret, Le Corbusier and Robert Mallet-Stevens.

Professional Tour Guide

Patrick H.
Patrick H.

My name is Patrick. I am Parisian, although I come from a family from Britanny (from the Côtes d’Armor). I have been passionate about my city for several years and I love to help people discover it. I have this need to share, perhaps this is the logical continuation of being a father and also a teacher in university. During the first part of my life I travelled the world, I loved it and I was grateful to all those friends who made me discover their country. Today I am making the same thing happen by taking people on a tour of my city. I love history, so you won’t escape a historical contextualization during your visit, I love architecture, so I will introduce you to our monuments and architectural styles, I love art, so let’s find it everywhere it is, in museums, but also in the street, I love our gastronomy and our art of living, so I will make you discover all my good spots.
