About Professional Tour Guide
I’m Dr Diptarup Ghosh Dastidar, a research fellow at Banaras Hindu University, India. My PhD thesis
deals with comics studies and spatiality, but my interests span farther wide into popular culture,
gender studies, and Indology. I have taught at various universities in India and am currently teaching
literature and language to school kids in Uttar Pradesh. Living in the historic city of Varanasi (aka
Benares), I have been driven into learning and talking about ancient Indian scriptures, mythology,
and philosophy. I am very passionate about socialising and I love lecturing! I’m also a musician and
vocalist in the alt-rock band – The Spring Leaves – while I’m not teaching, or reading! I hope that I’ll
be able to add some value to your experience with World Virtual Tours. Cheers!

Dense and accurate !
These 4 lessons are extremely dense and clear witch is almost impossible to achieve and it has been done ! I am dreaming to have 100 more lessons like that because the subject is incredibly huge. There are so many more myths and so many more gods to talk about … à clear view and the sense of explaining things like Diptarup Ghosh Dastidar is able to do is a precious tool for that ! I hope he will give more lessons and maybe let us discover his own city Varanasi !
Thank you Diptarup Ghosh Dastidar !!!
Super engaging and informative talk
The only World Virtual Tours guide I’ve ever heard SING! What a way to gather people’s attention right off the bat. Singing the Upanishads! This talk was full of popular culture references that make the ancient scriptures current and understandable. I’m a comparative religions scholar by training – This “tour” holds up to university-level erudition, but without ever talking down to people. Nuanced, learned, and fun. Thank you.
Can’t wait for live India tours 🙏🏼
