Welcome to the Von Dervis Palace in Saint Petersburg, a handsome mansion built by one of the city’s richest industrial families, the Dervis brothers—railroad entrepreneurs who surrounded themselves with art, music, and modern comforts. During this virtual tour, you’ll walk through their bright reception rooms and the cosy hall that now serves as a private opera space, getting a sense of how cultured and forward-thinking the family tried to be. Yet behind the beautiful interiors lay a far less fortunate story: despite their great wealth, the family was deeply unhappy and faced a series of personal tragedies that shadowed their lives. This tour offers not just a look at elegant rooms, but also a touching glimpse into the complicated, often painful history of the people who once lived there.
