In this exclusive online tour, led by our expert archaeologist, we’ll begin with the Gallery of the Candelabra, an elegant space adorned with marble columns, classical sculptures, and ornate details that blend the refinement of ancient Rome with the splendor of the papal collections. We’ll then move on to the Gallery of Tapestries, where monumental woven scenes—some based on Raphael’s designs—bring sacred stories vividly to life. Here, we’ll also enjoy a few clever optical illusions hidden within the designs, proof of the Renaissance artists’ playful mastery of perspective and perception. Ciao! I'm Alba, a Roman archaeologist and licensed tour guide. Even though I'm Italian through and through, I've spent quite a bit of time living on the East Coast of the US and in England. After snagging a BA in Conservation of Cultural Heritage and not one, but two MAs in Archaeology and History of Architecture, I went all out and got my Ph.D. in Archaeology back in 2015. But you know what? I quickly realized that I'm more into storytelling than hardcore research. So, I ditched the academic life and dove headfirst into guiding tours and educating folks in museums all across central Italy.
