Description

In this talk, you will be introduced to the remarkable life of Mahatma Gandhi, focusing on the key influences that shaped his philosophy, his pivotal role in India’s struggle for independence, and the enduring legacy he left behind. Drawing inspiration from thinkers like Leo Tolstoy, John Ruskin, and Henry David Thoreau, Gandhi developed the principles of satyagraha (truth-force) and ahimsa (non-violence), which became the cornerstone of his activism. While Gandhi is one of the most recognized names globally, it can be extremely inspiring to know about his life and draw motivation from his legacy. Whether you know all about Gandhi or have just heard his name and wondered why he is considered as the “Father of the Nation” in India, this talk will shed light on all your doubts about the man that was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who went on to become a Maha-atma  (Great Soul)!

Professional Tour Guide

Diptarup G.
Diptarup G.

I’m Dr Diptarup Ghosh Dastidar, a research fellow at Banaras Hindu University, India. My PhD thesis deals with comics studies and spatiality, but my interests span farther wide into popular culture, gender studies, and Indology. I have taught at various universities in India and am currently teaching literature and language to school kids in Uttar Pradesh. Living in the historic city of Varanasi (aka Benares), I have been driven into learning and talking about ancient Indian scriptures, mythology, and philosophy. I am very passionate about socialising and I love lecturing! I’m also a musician and vocalist in the alt-rock band – The Spring Leaves – while I’m not teaching, or reading! I hope that I’ll be able to add some value to your experience with World Virtual Tours. Cheers!
