Description
Join us for a captivating online tour dedicated to celebrating the remarkable women who left an indelible mark on Italy’s history. From the Middle Ages to modern times, we’ll explore the lives of extraordinary figures who broke barriers, wielded power, and inspired change. Discover Matilde di Canossa, the formidable 11th-century mediator between emperors and popes, and Trotula, a pioneering gynecologist who laid the foundations of gender medicine. Step into the Renaissance with Isabella d’Este, a brilliant politician and patron of the arts, and marvel at Artemisia Gentileschi, the revolutionary Baroque painter who defied convention. Delve into the political intrigue of Olimpia Maidalchini, the powerful influencer behind Pope Innocent X, and be inspired by Anita Garibaldi, the fearless heroine of the 19th-century revolutions. Finally, honor Nilde Iotti, the first female President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and a symbol of progress in modern Italy. Celebrate Women’s Month by uncovering their stories of courage, intellect, and resilience. Reserve your spot today and walk through the pages of history with us!

Professional Tour Guide

Alba S.
Ciao! I'm Alba, a Roman archaeologist and licensed tour guide. Even though I'm Italian through and through, I've spent quite a bit of time living on the East Coast of the US and in England. After snagging a BA in Conservation of Cultural Heritage and not one, but two MAs in Archaeology and History of Architecture, I went all out and got my Ph.D. in Archaeology back in 2015. But you know what? I quickly realized that I'm more into storytelling than hardcore research. So, I ditched the academic life and dove headfirst into guiding tours and educating folks in museums all across central Italy. I'm all about uncovering the hidden gems of Rome and the surrounding areas in Lazio. Sure, the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain are cool, but there's so much more to see! So, join me for some passionate dives into the Great Beauty of Rome. Let's explore its fascinating history and art scene together!
