Description

A tour of the Marly Palace and Hermitage Pavilion, located within the Lower Park of Peterhof, offers a serene exploration of royal retreats and beautiful landscapes. Marly Palace, a small yet elegant residence built for Peter the Great, overlooks a tranquil pond and features intimate, modestly decorated rooms that contrast with the grandeur of the main palace. Its understated elegance reflects Peter’s personal taste for simplicity. The Hermitage Pavilion, on the other hand, served as a dining venue for the tsar and his guests, equipped with a unique lift-table system that allowed meals to be served without the presence of servants. This pavilion’s Rococo design and colorful interior highlight the luxury of private royal gatherings. The Lower Park, with its manicured gardens, tree-lined pathways, and scenic fountains, provides a peaceful setting for leisurely walks, offering stunning views of both the Gulf of Finland and the palace’s cascading water features.
